MicroPitch was created in 2019 as an initiative under the framework of the Technical Assistance Programme to the Financial Sector in the Caribbean region of the European Investment Bank (EIB), which is implemented by Frankfurt School of Finance & Management (Frankfurt School) since May 2018.
The objective of the EIB Caribbean Technical Assistance Programme is to promote responsible financial inclusion of the Caribbean populations, particularly for women and youth, so as to reduce poverty and encourage entrepreneurship across the Caribbean region.

How was MicroPitch created?
The first edition of the MicroPitch took place in November 2019 in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic (in Spanish). Four entrepreneurs out of 15 shortlisted finalists were awarded prizes and obtained funds for their projects. A second edition of the MicroPitch was organised in June 2021. It again focused on the Dominican Republic and was held in Spanish. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this second edition took place in an online format. This allowed the participating entrepreneurs to reach an even broader audience, as the final MicroPitch event was transmitted live. Six shortlisted finalists out of 76 candidates presented (“pitched”) the innovative solutions they have implemented in their businesses in front of a high-level jury of international and national experts. Four awards were given to inspiring and innovative entrepreneurs, who then received seed capital, hands-on mentoring and trainings targeted to their businesses’ personalised needs.
