European Investment Bank (EIB) and Team Europe
The European Investment Bank (EIB) is the bank and lending arm of the European Union and the biggest multilateral financial institution in the world. Its shareholders are the 27 EU member states. The EIB has operated in the Caribbean region during almost three decades through capital investment, long-term loans and technical assistance. Due to their impact towards employment creation, the support to MSMEs has been one of the main pillars of the EIB activity in the region throughout the years. The EIB is member of Team Europe with the European Union and their member states, a coordinated response mechanism to the COVID-19 crisis.
Since May 2018, the EIB funds the Technical Assistance programme to its clients and the financial sector in several Caribbean countries including Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Haiti, Dominica, St Lucia and Belize.
